HoN at the 2nd Season of NASL (North American Star League)

Heroes of Newerth will be a promotional title for the 2nd Season 2 of the North American Star League (NASL). HoN is one of the largest growing competitive gaming titles and is featured at major gaming events such as Dreamhack and the World Cyber Games.

Heroes of Newerth at the GDC 2011

S2 Games is going to the Game Developers Conference 2011 in San Francisco.
The creators of the 2010 sleeper hit, Heroes of Newerth, will be at GDC this year accompanied by the real life version of the HoN hero named Aluna (Paula Garcés).

Garena's product manager, Weicheng Zhou, has announced:

We are trying to hit the end of February timeline. There are still works pending to be done to port everything over on Garena HoN. In the meantime the Garena staffs are in the process of testing the 2.0 features. We are making sure to deliver the perfect HoN 2.0 to the community so please be a little bit patient.

Garena Partners with S2 Games for South East Asian servers

The rumors were floated a few months back, with the Slugonice (moderator of Garena Philippines) giving away hints and tidbits as early as last year but now it has finally become a reality.

S2 Games is happy to announce that we have chosen Garena as our strategic partner for key countries in South East Asia (SEA), namely Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. Garena currently hosts the largest gaming community in SEA, making this a valuable partnership for both parties.

As announced earlier, Heroes of Newerth will be going to retail on Wednesday, May 12th. This means that players need to purchase a paid account to be able to continue to enjoy the game. However, Garena has decided to keep the game free-to-play for its target countries and gamers in these locations do not need to purchase a paid account. Due to this, we have to restrict the access of gamers from Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines from playing in our international servers.

Garena is currently still setting up their dedicated servers for the South East Asia region, so there is an expected lull time for users in these four countries wherein they will be unable to play the game. The Beta Testing Phase for Garena servers expected to start before the end of May.

At the start of closed beta, gamers from these countries will be able to redeem a Beta Key immediately if they are Garena Gold Members, while other keys are given away in other community efforts. Please note that countries not stated here (e.g. Indonesia, Thailand) will be unable to play on Garena servers, and would require purchasing a paid account to enjoy the game in S2 Games? international servers.

Heroes of Newerth Hits 1 Million Accounts in Closed Beta!

1 Million HoN beta accounts

According to S2 Game's Maliken:

This is a huge milestone and is very representative of the popularity and success of HoN.

We keep statistics of daily unique logins, 7 day unique logins, 30 day unique logins and there are industry standards for concurrent users based upon total unique players. While we do not have a total unique players, having 4% of your playerbase on concurrently at peak times and never dropping below 2% is absolutely awesome.

In fact, the fact that we have significantly less than 1,000,000 unique players makes those percentages even better.

We get over 200,000 unique account logins DAILY! and almost 400,000 unique in the trailing 7 days. These numbers are VERY encouraging!

Also, there seems to be a though process that HoN has been in open beta this entire time, we've had over 35,000 accounts sign up in the last 14 hours and that is without Russia, Phillipines, Signapore, Vietnam, and Malaysia (all 5 HUGE DotA playing countries). Through invites we were doing an average of 3500-4000 new accounts / day. We'll see 30k+ accounts daily through this entire HoN Holiday Open Registration.

Now for those people from the countries mentioned above, here's a statement from S2 Games.

Purchasing for the following countries will be handled through a South East Asia affiliate: Vietnam, Taiwan, Malaysia and Phillipines. Look for more information in the near future.

So watch out for it.
